Main Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Wheelchair Rugby League Mechanic to provide essential maintenance, repairs, and modifications for specialist sports wheelchairs used by athletes in Wheelchair Rugby League. The successful candidate will ensure that all equipment is kept in peak condition, providing reliable performance and safety for players. This role is vital in supporting the team’s training, matches, and overall performance.
Typical Responsibilities
- Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks on all wheelchair rugby league equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and structural issues with sports wheelchairs, including frames, wheels, tyres, and seating components.
- Perform modifications and customisations to meet the individual needs of players while adhering to league regulations.
- Manage spare parts inventory and contact Megan if replacements are needed.
- Work closely with players and coaches to ensure optimal wheelchair performance and player comfort.
- Provide on-site support during training sessions and match days, making necessary adjustments and emergency repairs.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in wheelchair technology and Rugby League regulations.
- Maintain detailed service records for each wheelchair, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Essential Behaviours and Skills
- Strong mechanical and technical skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair a range of issues.
- Experience working with sports wheelchairs or adaptive equipment (preferred).
